Police Officer Accused Of Brutality
A senior police officer of the Liberia National Police personnel department at the central office of the LNP identified as Lee Gailar has been accused of alleged brutality by the sister of an alleged victim. Ms. Ella Wisseh of the New Georgia Estate walked into the offices of this paper yesterday in tears alleging that her brother Patrick Wisseh was allegedly brutalized by Officer Lee Gailar of the personnel department of the Liberia National Police. Displaying a bloody photo of her brother to this paper, Ms. Wisseh said her brother was attacked by Officer Gailer about 8:45 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday night when her brother went to purchase roasted fish. She said she believed that the police officer was intoxicated something which she said might have provoked his action to brutally flog her armless brother.
Ella alleged that two other non-uniformed officers accompanied officer Gailar who was fully uniformed brutalized her brother. “They used handcuffs and other harmful instruments to beat my brother,” she alleged. Ms. Wisseh said Officer Gailar has vowed to kill her brother and as such she is therefore calling on the LNP authority to investigate the attack on her brother. When this paper contacted the police spokesman, George Bardue on the issue he said the victim needs to identify the officer involved and write a formal letter of complaint to the Director of Police and following that a proper investigation should be instituted and all those concerned be invited for the probe.
