Liberians In Minnesota On Rescue Mission

Sebo Daniels

If all goes well, hundreds of Liberians nationwide are expected to benefit from relief assistance from the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLM) based in the United States of America.  The OLM initiative is expected to be funded through fund-raising and other activities including a grant from the Federal Government of that country to support such a worthy initiative.  According to a 3rd member of the Governing Board of OLM, Mr. Bangalee Trawally who is currently visiting Liberia, said all is now set for needed humanitarian assistance to war ravaged Liberians.  Although he did not name specific areas of help but noted that need assessment has begun by him to pave the way for a full delegation to visit Liberia and see the need to help.  In an exclusive interview with this paper yesterday, Trawally explained that the current nine members of OLM governing board are all in support for assistance to Liberians in many areas.

He narrated that in the past the organization was politicized by some officials of the group but following years of brainstorming a new wind of change began to blow across the organization thereby shifting from political maneuvering to the formation of a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) to cater to war ravaged Liberians.  Speaking further, Trawally indicated that the current head of OLM Dr. Clarence Yeskey is performing the task ahead and that the leadership and members of the group are cooperating with one another as compared to the past where the organization was engulfed in confusion.  Meanwhile, Trawally has disclosed that OLM is one of the long existing Liberian organizations in America.
